Controlled use of natural resources and effective use of the land from which raw materials come are key objectives of the aggregates operations. The company's plant at Horotiu, near Hamilton, is one of the most modern in New Zealand and processes sand from a number of locations. Several portable plants are also used to complete projects in remote locations. Aggregates supply specialist materials to a wide range of industries in the North Island. These include processed sand for concrete and concrete block manufacturing (blocks, pipes, paving slabs etc), blasting sand, filter sand and mortar sand. Pit sand is supplied to the roading, building and construction industries. Pumice is processed for the manufacturing of lightweight concrete products used within the horticultural and agricultural sectors.
